"We're safe," he said.
"Oh good," said Arthur.
"We're in a small galley cabin," said Ford, "in one of the spaceships of the Vogon Constructor Fleet."
"Ah," said Arthur, "this is obviously some strange usage of the word safe that I wasn't previously aware of."
The characters don't really "pop" out of the background, but it's supposed to be dark so I couldn't work out how to fix that without making them look brighter than they should. And my version of Ford looks like a twelve-year-old. (And the packet of peanuts looks completely... not like a packet of peanuts.) Otherwise I'm generally happy with how this came out! It was fun. The room they're in is pretty ridiculous, but I couldn't figure out how to get across the idea of 'spaceship' without random wires and the like. I would appreciate some crits on this, perhaps some tips on how to colour dark scenes without making the characters all dull and non-eye-catching.
Arthur, Ford, and this whole scene belong to the late, great DNA.
LOL! I like it. Hillarious, and well drawn. I like how the characters don't pop out. *shrug*

I LOVE your version of Ford. And I also like how the characters blend a bit with the background, it makes it look like a real scene and not just some characters pasted onto a random background. I also like the background itself quite a bit xD

Ironically...just 1d 1h ago when you posted this, I started doodling a Ford Prefect. Hmm. Coincidence.
let's see how to make your art go ZING!
I'd say use more of a contrasty/brighter/lighter color to highlight the areas where the light would/should be? other wise it looks great!
